2023 Weather Leras Vineyard Russian River Valley Pinot Noir
The 2023 Weather Leras Vineyard Pinot Noir is crafted from Pinot Noir clones Pommard and Dijon (777, 115, 828, and 667), grown at the historic Leras Vineyard in the Russian River Valley. Vivid and expressive with a ruby-garnet hue and a bright rim. Aromas of red cherry and wild strawberry are layered with violet, rose petal, and black tea. The palate is complex and aromatic, delivering red currant, raspberry, and spiced plum with touches of cola, clove, and savory herbs. Silky, refined, and supple with fine tannins and a long, elegant finish. Fermented with 22% whole clusters (clones 777 and 115) and aged 14 months in 50% new French oak (Damy, Chassin, and Sirugue). Just 98 cases produced.
Vintage Notes:
A cool, lengthy growing season in 2023 followed a wet winter that replenished soils and delayed budbreak. Steady, moderate temperatures defined the summer, with only brief warm spells balanced by the Russian River Valley’s hallmark marine fog. An extended hang time allowed for gradual ripening and beautifully developed flavors. As harvest approached, mild weather persisted, yielding fruit of exceptional balance, purity, and finesse. The 2023 vintage is distinguished by its poise, vibrant acidity, and refined structure—an elegant expression of Leras Vineyard and the Russian River Valley.
