2019 Weather Napa Valley Pinot Noir
Tasting Notes:
The 2019 Weather Napa Valley Pinot Noir is rich ruby red in the glass. Ripe cranberry and strawberry fragrances fill the glass, edged with spicy cocoa aromas. Redcurrant, raspberry and deep black cherry flavors dance on the palate, grounded by mocha and earthy tea notes from aging in new and neutral French oak for 13 months. Full-bodied and fleshy, this pinot noir perfectly balances its rich, velvety tannins with moderate acidity. Drink now or cellar for up to 8 years.
Winemaking/Vintage Notes:
Southern Napa vineyards planted with Pommard clone produce the integrated and concentrated flavors of this pinot noir. The 2019 southern Napa Valley vintage started with heavy spring rains onto clay soils, feeding the vines over a long dry summer. Classic San Pablo Bay fog and breezes kept temperatures moderate with slight uptick towards harvest. The abundant hangtime teased out great color, structure and soft tannins. Yields were slightly below average creating demand for this vintage’s exceptional fruit with bright acidity and great texture. Harvested in Sept 16th, 224 cases made.
