2022 Weather Sonoma Coast Chardonnay
90 Points | Wine Spectator
The 2022 Weather Sonoma Coast Chardonnay is rich and vibrant—sourced from Sonoma’s cool, ocean coast. Pale gold tones with straw-colored edges signal its freshness and richness. Zesty aromas of citrus peel, marmalade, and apple blossom deliver lemon confit and fresh apricot with hints of sea stone on its weighty palate. Aged for 10 months in 30 percent new French oak.
Wine Spectator Review:
A distinctive white, with hints of lanolin and beeswax up front and a core of plump peach, apricot and fig flavors. A thread of sea salt minerality and tarragon lingers on the long finish, along with a hint of vanilla cream. Drink now. 2,569 cases made.—M.W.
Vintage Notes:
The 2022 Sonoma Coast, California growing season started with a stretch of sunny days with a well-timed downpour prompting an early bud break. The summer season was sunny, steady, and mild with late-season heat. Occasional heat spikes were balanced by cool marine fog in the mornings and evenings. The enduring, moderate conditions through to harvest time confirmed 2022 as an exceptional vintage producing intriguing, vibrant wines with complex flavor development.
